Movement as practice. Community in process.

Our community programming brings dancers, artists, and curious movers into a shared practice. Whether you’re taking class, diving into a workshop, or spending multiple days inside an intensive, each offering is designed as an entry point into our movement philosophy and creative ecosystem.

Community Classes

A Consistent Practice

Community Classes are the foundation of our movement ecosystem. These classes offer an accessible, high-quality space to move, train, and reconnect — led by projectALCHEMY artists and guest teaching artists.

Rather than rotating styles week to week, our class structure emphasizes continuity, allowing dancers to deepen their understanding of each teacher’s approach and build relationships over time.

What to Expect

  • Open-level contemporary movement

  • Technique, improvisation, and partnering

  • Process-driven, inquiry-based class structures

  • A welcoming space for professional dancers, students, and experienced movers

Classes prioritize presence, curiosity, and physical intelligence over performance or perfection.

Workshops

Focused Exploration

Workshops offer a deeper dive into specific movement concepts, creative tools, or collaborative processes. These short-term intensives — ranging from a single session to a full day — are designed for dancers seeking concentrated exploration without a long-term commitment.

Workshop formats may include:

  • Repertory-based learning

  • Partnering and physical dialogue

  • Improvisation and composition

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration

  • Process-based choreographic research

Workshops are announced throughout the season and are open to dancers interested in expanding their practice and perspective.

Intensives

Immersion & Transformation

Intensives are multi-day, immersive experiences that invite participants into the deeper rhythms of projectALCHEMY’s creative process. These offerings are designed for dancers seeking sustained engagement, artistic growth, and company-level inquiry.

Intensives often include:

  • Daily technique and movement classes

  • Creative research and phrase work

  • Improvisation and partnering

  • Exposure to company repertory

  • Dialogue around artistic voice and process

Participants experience what it means to work inside the company ecosystem — moving, creating, and reflecting alongside projectALCHEMY artists.

Our Community Classes are organized in seasonal arcs.

Each season features:

  • A monthly Community Masterclass led by Artistic Director Alexander Jones

  • Resident Teaching Artists who teach at a consistent time throughout the season

  • Guest Teaching Artists who rotate in to offer fresh perspectives

This structure allows the community to:

  • Build momentum over time

  • Absorb a teacher’s methodology more fully

  • Strengthen community through repetition and shared practice
