our Mission
projectALCHEMY is a nonprofit international dance+ company based in St. Petersburg, Florida, engaging the dance community and local audiences through immersive interdisciplinary performance, affordable movement classes and dance artist development opportunities. We share the artistic talent of our community through live performance and online exchanges with dance companies around the world.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a thriving dance+ ecosystem where high quality dance experiences are easily accessible to artists and audiences. Following the process of alchemy, we value creating through intentional collaboration resulting in the transformation of the artists we work with and the environments we inhabit. We believe that diversity in all its forms is necessary to spark imagination, provide accessible spaces and encourage meaningful dialogue about the intersection of the performance content and the audience experience.
Let’s Groove into the
2026-2027 Season
Momentum is projectALCHEMY’s choreographic mentorship dedicated to developing dance makers through experimentation, conversation, and creative process. Over several months, participating choreographers are given the time, space, mentorship, and resources to investigate their artistic voices and develop original work. This season, Curvacia Elysée, Sami Mangione, Aynsleigh Morehouse, and Victoria Gonzalez bring their distinct perspectives into creative conversation with Dalí in America at The Dalí Museum. Each choreographer responds to the exhibition through their own movement language and curiosity, culminating in four new contemporary dance works. More than a showcase, Momentum is about what happens along the way—the questions, discoveries, risks, and transformations that shape both the work and the artists making it.
MIXed: Pulse of the City brings together contemporary dance, film, and distinct choreographic voices in an experience inspired by the people, places, and rhythms of St. Petersburg. The evening creates an exchange between nationally recognized guest artists and the dance makers creating and working within our community. This season features new works by projectALCHEMY company artists Jonah Perez-Lopez and Kirsten Standridge, alongside original choreography by guest artists Jennifer Archibald and LaMichael Leonard Jr. The experience also includes the premiere of MIXed: Across St. Pete, a dance film by cinematographer Joey Clay, capturing movement created throughout neighborhoods and public spaces across the city. Together, live performance and film create a portrait of a city in motion—celebrating the creative energy that emerges when artists, ideas, and community move alongside one another.
Midsummer at the Disco is an immersive collaboration between projectALCHEMY, Jobsite Theater, and FloridaRama, bringing Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream into a world of contemporary dance, theater, visual installation, and disco. Presented at FloridaRama, the experience reimagines Shakespeare’s tangled story of love, desire, identity, and transformation through the energy and freedom of the dance floor. Movement and theater unfold throughout an immersive environment where audiences are invited into a world that is playful, theatrical, and a little unruly. At its heart, Midsummer at the Disco explores the dance floor as a place of possibility—a space for gathering, self-expression, refuge, and becoming. Three St. Petersburg arts organizations come together to ask what can happen when Shakespeare leaves the traditional stage and enters the disco.
Momentum Choreographers Showcase: Alum Night brings artists from across seven years of projectALCHEMY’s Momentum Choreographic Mentorship back into the room to share where their creative practices have taken them. For this first Alum Night, Rachel Lambright, Dakota Kuharich Stevenson, Kayla Gupta, Autumn Christian, and Delaney Ali return to present choreographic work at The Studio@620—the place where the original Choreographers Showcase began and the roots of what would eventually become Momentum first took shape. More than a return, Alum Night celebrates continuation: how an artistic voice changes with time, how mentorship can ripple beyond a single experience, and how a community of dance makers continues to grow alongside one another.
